Dave Pearcey, Ian Campbell and Roger Williamson are flying the Aigburth flag at this years British Championships

Roger is playing in the 11 round Major Open which started on Monday. He's started with two draws and plays William Taylor in round 3.

Can we expect to see some games on Weds?

You can follow his progress here;

Dave and Ian are playing in the 5 Day Open (Week 2) and the Senior Championship respectively.  The Senior Championship starts on the 30/07 and the Open (Week 2) on the 01/08.

Good luck chaps!

Ian started his campaign with a draw against FM Paul Byway and now plays Atticus's Brian Ewart in the Second Round.

Meanwhile Roger is on 4/6 after two wins and 4 draws and is not too far off the leaders.

Keep going chaps...

Roger finished with an impressive score of 7/11 but just missed out on the prizes. He had four wins, one loss and six draws. Dave scored 50% in the 5 Day Open with two wins, two losses and a draw. Ian also joined the 50% club, remarkably drawing every single game in the Senior. Rumours that Nick replaced him mid tournament have yet to be confirmed...biggrin

Roger embarked on a daily train trip which I found so unpleasant on my single outward trip to Sheffield that I cancelled my proposed saturday visit to the prize giving and came back on an early train. Having endured such a journey every day, and with one eye on the clock for the return trip in the evening, I think 7/11 was an excellent performance by Roger and he was most unfortunate not to get the extra half point needed to qualify for the British next year.

Dave also travelled daily and had the onerous pleasure of playing the top seed, graded 201, in the second round.

As for myself, the spirit of Nick settled upon me for a couple of games which finished in a dozen moves or less. Either that or the heat and humidity was not to the taste of either player. Six of my opponents were higher graded than myself and most of the seven draws were hard fought for forty moves and more. Nine ELO points and an ECF of 178 for the tourney would suit me if replicated in the forthcoming season. Fourteen draws for the second team--that's a thought!
