The London Chess Classic is currently taking place with a few local players taking part.

Our very own Roger Williamson is participating in the nine round FIDE Open. Roger got off to a great start with two victories (one against a 2398 rated IM) but slipped to defeat with the black pieces in round three against another IM.

Good luck for the rest of the tournament Rog!

Another good result for Roger, a Round 4 draw against IM Richard Bates (2386) leaves him on 2.5 / 4.

Round 5 sees yet another IM rolling off the conveyor belt to play Roger.

Update: a draw in the above was followed by a loss in a tricky endgame against IM John Cox. Despite the disappointment Roger ground out a win yesterday and today faces FM opposition.

Roger finished on an impressive 5 out of 9, just missing out on some prize money. Not bad against an average opponent of around 2228 across the tournament.
