I'm very pleased to announce that as a result of continuing sponsor support, we can look forward to another very strong Heywood congress this year.
The 5 section Heywood congress will take place on June 23rd and 24th this year, and your entry form is attached, both as a word and a PDF document. Or you can enter on line (completely secure, and at no cost to yourself!) using your debit or credit card on the new Heywood chess congress site: http://www.heywoodcongress.org.uk/
Please have a look over the website, which contains information on the venue and the event, with reports covering the last 18 years!
Could I ask that you e-mail this message and entry form on to other chess colleagues? Could you in particular bring the NOVICE section to the attention of your newer / weaker players - this section is especially for them as an introduction to tournament chess, and we all need to get them playing for the future of chess in our region!
The Heywood congress will take place at the Heywood Civic Hall, less than 5 minutes from junction 19 of the M62 or junction 2 of the M66.
Five sections: Open, U180, U160, U140 and U120 Novice section
Excellent prize fund and grading prizes. Free parking, hot and cold food all weekend and bar open during licencing hours. Part of ECF Grand Prix.
And a special treat this year - the Olympic torch will be passing within 100yds of the venue on Saturday 23rd afternoon!
Hope you can make it, PLEASE bring chess friends if driving (especially new players for the novice!), and feel free to circulate the attached entry form to your other chess colleagues.
Although the venue is in very easy reach of all regional players via the motorway system, if you fancy staying at a hotel on the Friday or Saturday evenings, we have the nearby Travellers Lodge or Premier Inn, either of which can prove extremely cost effective if people share rooms and book in advance:
